Protecting Our Children
Diocesan Policy
The Office of Counseling, Prevention and Victim Services was established to fulfill the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ commitment to the victims, survivors and family members of those who have suffered from sexual abuse by clergy or anyone working for the Catholic Church. Our promise to protect and pledge to heal includes measures to ensure accountability, promote healing and reconciliation, and prevent future acts of abuse.
To report abuse or for further information, call the Office at 413-452-0624 or the confidential hotline 800-792-5200.
State law also requires that abuse and neglect of a minor must be reported to the Mass. Dept. of Social Services 1-800-792-5200, or through local police.
In our parish, Child Protection Advocates are Sr. Betty Matuszek 734-5433, and Mrs. Carol Raffaele 739-3616 for the academy students and staff.
We are requested to provide this information in our bulletin several times a year.
Appreciating Our Ministers
Monday, June 9, at Monastery Heights
We are grateful for all of our volunteers in ministry. The Spiritual Life Commission of the Pastoral Council has arranged an evening to celebrate your lay leadership.
Join us for supper, a guest speaker, and Mass in the former cloister chapel at Landmark, Monastery Heights , in W. Springfield , at 6 PM. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Thomas Lachiusa LICSW, who gave our Centennial Year Lenten Lecture series. Please sign up in the sacristy soon if you can attend, as we are limited by our accommodations.
Candles at Blessed Mother Shrine
Eight-day vigil lights are near the statue of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in the church vestibule. These candles are for a prayer intention, in thanksgiving, or simply to honor Our Lady. The suggested offering is $10. See the priest to have your special intention candle lit there after Mass.
CCD Looks Ahead
We would like to re-open a Kindergarten CCD class in the fall of 2008. We need a teacher or two, so if you might consider this delightful prospect, or wish to enroll a child early, call Christine DiVenuto 204-7789.
If you are willing to teach, assist, or substitute with other age levels, let her know soon. Then, we could supply you with materials or information to preview over the summer.
We are very grateful to our present CCD staff, and are confident that new persons will find capable experience and support as they join this ministry.
Men's Retreat
Passionist Retreat House, W. Hartford. Good rest, good food, inspiring
talks, workshops, and music.
Call Vinny Ferraro 734-3442.
Spiritual Life Commission
Consider joining Eleanor Davio, Peggy Sarno, and Silvia Hodge on this
commission of our Pastoral Council. They arrange events which enrich
our life of prayer and worship, like the Annual Eve of Recollection for
Ministers, Open Pantry service, and our Lenten Speaker Series.
Call Eleanor 569-6348 to discuss your interest.
